2 Why Should I apply to University? It is an option! On results day you may need alternative options – this is one of those options. You can still apply for jobs and apprenticeships at the same time! You love a subject and want to study it in greater depth. The future benefits and job prospects from having a degree. People with degrees earned an average of £12,000 a year more than non-graduates over the past decade, statistics show. You will meet lots of new people, learn to live independently and have a great time.

3 CHOOSING A COURSE Identify potential careers that may interest me. Research these and the type of degree that may be suitable for each career. Firstly ensure you know the difference between the following: *Single Honours Degree? *Joint Honours Degree? *Foundation courses? *Courses with a placement year? Research courses in depth. You may find out some of the following: *Modules included? Options? *Study time – Teaching? Tutorials? Independent study? *Similar courses? *Ease of entry – applicants per place? *Employment possibilities? Future salary potential?

8 UCAS APPLY START YOUR APPLICATION NOW………. Go to www.ucas.ac.uk and then click on Register.www.ucas.ac.uk Follow the process through. Choose your password – REMEMBER THIS! The Buzzword is SOUTHGATE2016 Select the correct tutor group and tutor. Begin completing the form. You should complete the Personal details section and all other sections, apart from the personal statement, the A Level section of education and the choices section. Get your unifrog username and password (emailed to you) and begin your research.
