Microsoft Canada 3 Pillars of Citizenship Advancing Work Skills Development Improving Online Safety and Security Improving Societal Challenges Through the Innovative Use of Technology

Microsoft Corporation Confidential and Privileged Improving Online Safety & Security CILP and Microsoft Canada launched the “Safe Computing Program” Microsoft Canada joined the Media Awareness Network and Bell Canada to support the Be Web Aware initiative to empower parents with the information and resources they need to keep their kids safe online.

As the Officer in Charge of the Child Exploitation Section for the Toronto Police Service, Paul Gillespie made an impassioned plea to Bill Gates to tackle the problem of online child exploitation. Together, the Toronto Police, the RCMP and Microsoft Canada created the Child Exploitation Tracking System (CETS): an intelligence database that helps law enforcement store, share and analyze large amounts of information. CETS has helped arrest 240 suspects and rescue 138 victims of child pornography or sexual exploitation worldwide and broke up 3 international pedophile rings CETS is now being used by law enforcement agencies in the U.K., Italy, Brazil and Indonesia. Thirty Canadian police forces have adopted CETS technology CETS PAUL GILLESPIE Protecting children from sexual exploitation “The next time you are disgusted with your job, or disheartened with what you see, or wonder if anything you do makes a difference, know that it does. Your intervention rescued our child from his horrors.” – from a relative of a child that Paul Gillespie helped rescue from a pedophile and child pornographer.
