Alleghenian Orogeny Africa collides with Laurentia but does not subduct. Hits Greenland first, then rotates in toward eastern North America. Final collision to form the Present day Appalachians. Sediments uplifted; basement rocks folded and uplifted Iapetus Ocean closed Pangea formed
