Contact us GE, IGETC, curriculum, curricular policy transfer, transfer policy, LDTP Admission requirements, pass along

 AP and IB for GE Certification CSU GE Advisory Committee Approved AP scores and credit for GE certification - CCC representatives on GEAC - Updated list meets EO 595, EO 395 requirements CSU approved specific AP exams approved for GE-B and IGETC certification CSU and UC implementation is waiting for: - Based on ICAS input, UC must finalize its approval - Final approved CSU list will be distributed with revised CSU EO 365 IB is not yet approved for CSU GE-B or IGETC certification. Must be reviewed by CSU faculty ( and UC faculty for IGETC). For now, use 1997 Jo Service AP memo

 Regional Articulation (campus to campus) - Helps transition to CSU for majority of transfer students - Regional articulation will continue, as campuses choose - LDTP articulation will be used for some transfer students

 Pass Along CCCs can use courses taken at other institutions for GE-B or IGETC certification Pass along coursework as it was intended to be used at campus of origin Must be used as intended pursuant to EO 595 (or IGETC) Courses on GE lists from eligible out-of-state and private institutions may be accepted: Difficult to pass along Critical Thinking courses taken out of state

 More on Pass Along Courses from foreign institutions not accepted (unless regionally accredited) Contact the Office of Student Academic Support Dr. Jim Blackburn (562)

 Using Upper-Division Credits to meet Lower-Division Requirements Some CSU campuses have honored CCC certifications that use upper-division coursework (though not in policy) Using upper-division GE courses to satisfy lower-division requirements may cause student to have to take additional course to satisfy upper- division requirement after transfer EO 595: Lower-division coursework is to be used to meet Lower-division GE requirements (EO 595, Section VIII, C1)

 Using Upper-Division Credits to meet Lower-Division Requirements CSU recommends consulting with CSU receiving campus to discuss how upper-division course will count Ultimately, the CSU campus may change the certification, applying coursework to a different area

 CSU General Education- Breadth Must be baccalaureate level Course outlines must meet intent of EO See Can certify by Area Course must be approved for GE and should be included in ASSIST

 AI Requirements Outlines must meet intent of CSU EO Criteria are to represent the AI course content US History, Constitution, and American Ideals (nominal representation of criteria prevents approvals) US Area 1 Historical development of American institutions and ideals US Area 2 Constitution of the United States and the operation of representative democratic government under that Constitution, and US Area 3 Process of California state and local government All 3 AI Areas cannot be met within a single course Up to 6 semester units fulfilling AI can also be applied to fulfilling GE Requirements (only if the student is certified in GE)

 CSU Baccalaureate-Level Courses CCCs decide what qualifies based on consideration of: 1. Institutional Issues 2. Course Content Expectations 3. Pedagogy See

 Course Content - no remedial courses - expand skills and knowledge beyond entry expectations - critical thinking, application of concepts - more rigorous pace & content than high school courses - develops college-level communication skills - more theory and concepts than technical skills and professional prep  Institutional Issues - campus ensures that all requirements for appropriate study are met  Pedagogy - student-faculty interaction supports learning outcomes - evaluation of student performance: entry vs. exit Baccalaureate-Level Courses
