CSU: Determined by CCC faculty for CCC courses Verified by CSU Admissions for non-CCC courses UC: Determined by UC faculty policy, regardless of origin

4 RECENCY (Age of a course)
Apply caution with courses required for specific major programs involving computer technology or software, and business; they may become outdated and be unacceptable. No systemwide policy, but some campuses have local policies to ensure up to date knowledge necessary to ensure student success in these type of program.

5 UNIT VALUES Watch for potential shortage in overall GE units
Mixed: semester v. quarter – convert to one type

6 UPPER DIVISION: CSU After transfer, LD courses approved for UD requirements earn UD content credit but LD units. UD courses used in ADTs transfer as UD units. 60 transferable unit minimum based on both LD & UD

7 UPPER DIVISION: UC In general no UD unit credit awarded for two-year college courses. UD course units (awarded from a 2-yr or 4-yr institution are additive to LD maximum unit credit. UC’s Lower Division Maximum Credit Policy see UC’s Quick Reference for Counselors 2016 guide pg. 32

16 UC POLICY ON MILITARY CREDIT
U.S. Military Service Courses UC may award lower division (freshman/sophomore level) transfer credit for military service courses completed: if the courses are consistent with University policy on awarding transfer credit when there if the course is an equivalent course taught at a UC campus. UC will consult the American Council on Education (ACE) recommendations for information regarding course content and as a guide to the awarding of credit.

17 CERTIFICATION OF CSU GE BREADTH AND CSU/UC IGETC: CONSIDERATIONS
Deliver via official transcripts, counselor-approved forms or e-transcripts When certs raise questions, student is not penalized; CSU will contact CCC directly. Partial certifications for STEM – built into AS-Ts for Biology, Chemistry
