CCC to CSU - The Road to the Degree Big Picture Admission Academic Preparation

 60% of CSU students previously attended a CCC  Over 55K former CCC students enrolled at the CSU last year  CSU enrolls more CC students than any other university  75% of all CCC students who transfer to a 4-year institution go to a CSU campus  The CSU is committed to admit all fully eligible upper division transfer applicants  Fall 2008 - Some CSU campuses admitted eligible lower division transfers  Less that half of CSU are likely to admit lower division transfer students in Fall 2009 CSU and the California Community Colleges

CCC to CSU - The Road to the Degree Admission

Lower Division Transfer Students - Option 1 Students who are “CSU Eligible” at HS Graduation.  Consult with counselor and identify CSU campus for transfer  Complete CSU GE mathematics and English Composition (w/ at least grades of “C”)  Complete CSU GE critical thinking and oral communication (w/ at least grades of “C”)  Apply by Nov. 30 to CSU campus that is accepting lower division transfers http://www.csumentor.edu/filing_status/Default.asp

Admission Application Filing Status Report

CSU Transfer Admission - Impaction for 2009-10  SLO - all programs impacted  SDSU –most programs impacted and others may be impacted if application volumes are high.  Long Beach - many programs as well upper division transfers in general are impacted.  Other 20 campuses - impacted in 0 - 6 programs  Impacted programs are COMPETITIVE for admission  MUST file for admission within the INITIAL application filing period

Impaction Information http://www.calstate.edu/SAS/impactioninfo.shtml

Other Options for CSU Admission via CCCs  Concurrent enrollment –While in HS –During Summer after HS Graduation –At CSU while at CCC  Service Area or Local Admission Guarantee Agreements (TAGs, TAAs)  LDTP

Lower-Division Transfer Pattern (LDTP) Project  LDTP is an advising tool that informs students what lower division academic requirements they should complete at the CCC before entry to the CSU.  The LDTP Project is statewide articulation between California Community Colleges (CCC) and California State University (CSU) Campuses.

Why LDTP?  To show lower division requirements that may be completed at the CCC prior to transferring.  To assist CCC student preparation for upper division courses before entering CSU.  To stop students having to retake courses once they enter the CSU.  To decrease the time taken to earn a CSU degree for students who transfer from a CCC.

How do Students Benefit from the LDTP Project?  LDTP streamlines transfer requirements between the CCC and CSU. –LDTP guarantees CCC courses will transfer to specified CSU requirements across all CSU campuses. –75% of each LDTP will articulate to any CSU campus. –LDTP creates articulation from CCCs to CSU campuses where none previously existed.

What Disciplines are Covered by the LDTP Project?  LDTP cover the 44 highest demand disciplines for transfer students. –90% of transfer students pursue these disciplines. –For specific details on each discipline go to: http://www.calstate.edu/AcadAff/ldtp/agreements.shtml

Does LDTP Replace Current CCC-CSU Articulation Agreements?  LDTP supplements current articulation agreements and practices. –However, CSU articulation is maintained by the faculty of the individual campuses.  Just as CSU GE-Breadth applies statewide to each CSU campus’s unique General Education program, LDTP will apply statewide toward each of the CSU campuses' major preparation.

What is Different About LDTP Then Campus to Campus Articulation?  LDTP articulates statewide requirements applicable to every CSU campus offering the discipline.  Once a CCC course is articulated to an LDTP statewide requirement it applies to all CSU programs offering a major in the discipline.

LDTP Resources  Calstate Website –www.calstate.edu/ldtpwww.calstate.edu/ldtp  CSU Mentor –LDTP Search Module  Coming Soon… –LDTP Academic Planner in CSU Mentor –LDTP Agreements in CSU Mentor –LDTP Articulation in ASSIST

LDTP Search Module  Allows students to search LDTP patterns by campus, pattern, and option.  Students can review patterns previously viewed.  CSU Campuses have the ability to review student saved patterns and use this information for recruitment purposes.

Coming soon…LDTP Academic Planner  Allows students to track completion of requirements necessary to complete an LDTP.  CSU Counselors will be able to view student progression and LDTP completion.

Coming soon…LDTP Agreements

Coming soon…LDTP Articulation in ASSIST  LDTP Patterns and articulation will be available in ASSIST.
