SNMEP JLUS Benefits & Lessons Brought the Region Closer Together Understanding of each others mission and needs Established an Enduring Forum for Collaboration Implementation Committee going strong – application for grant in process Understand and be Tolerant of Differences Zoning vs individual property rights – each County has a different perspective Three Commissioner vs Five Commissioner counties Rural Communities want to be heard – est. advisory board to elected county leaders Stay Committed – Ensure Staff are Supporting Effort Changes in staff/leadership due to retirement/elections require re-education, re-commitment Relationships are Important – Relationships take Time! Periodic Leadership briefs to County Commission and City Council mtgs, etc Communities should expect and demand participation from Installations 10
