PART 2: CORE STAND TOGETHER FOR SAFETY PRESENTATION

Two hours dedicated to health and safety where senior leaders and managers across the oil and gas industry engage directly with teams What is Stand Together for Safety

Let people know where your leaders are today and what they are doing. Your company leadership team should be trying to see as many people as possible on the day. Where are our Leaders?

APPEA member companies within the oil and gas industry in Australia. Stand Together for Safety has been supported by many leaders in the industry including: Don Voelte (Woodside) David Knox (Santos) Roy Krzywosinski (Chevron Australia) Bruce Lake (Vermillion Oil & Gas) Eric Streitberg (Buru Energy Ltd) John Smith (Clough) Joseph Homsey (Farstad Shipping) Who is participating?

APPEA CEO Safety Leadership Forum – “By working together, nobody gets harmed” In 2008 many senior leaders from industry, including a number of major contracting companies, came together to improve safety performance in the Australian oil and gas industry. Key Initiatives of this leadership group include: Contractor Engagement New requirement for Common Safety Training Standards for all new entrants to the oil and gas industry from July 2009 Hydrocarbon Releases Workshop Leadership in the Australian Cultural Context Safety Leadership What are we doing?

Reinforce that safety always comes before any other consideration Provide an opportunity for everyone to step away from their jobs and have a structured discussion about how safety can be improved Provide an opportunity for senior managers to engage with the workforce on safety Stand Together for Safety Objectives

Industry’s Health & Safety Performance APPEA Data

Our Future In early 2008 the Industry’s Performance experienced a worrying deterioration when the industry realised a 30% increase overall in the lost time injury frequency rate to 1.69 Although this rate remains a substantial improvement on the rates experienced in the industry prior to 2003, it is still disappointing and clearly there is much work to be done to ensure we remain strongly focused on the industry’s main goal of zero safety incidents. Into 2008 and 2009, APPEA is working with its member companies on a range of leadership initiatives to make sure we remain one hundred percent focused on working together and to ensure appropriate investment in infrastructure, preventative maintenance and retaining key skills and experience.
