 Marquette Frye, an African American male  Lee. W. Minikus, a Caucasian male, worked for the California Highway Patrol  Minikus pulled over Marquette Frye on suspicion of driving while intoxicated

 A crowd of people gathered at the scene where Frye was being arrested  A confrontation began between the crowd and police officers, that were on the scene

 WATTS is a part of South Central, Los Angeles  It is described as a ”deeply impoverished African American neighborhood”  Riots began in this area after the arrest of Frye

 Riots took place in WATTS for 6 days  The riot destroyed: cars, grocery stores, department stores, and pawn shops  $ 40 million of property was destroyed

 14,000 California National Guardsman were sent to WATTS  A curfew was put into place, to stop the rioting  34 people died  1,000 people injured  4,000 people arrested
