Alcohol related fatalities are down by 27% as compared to 1982. Top 5 states with highest number of alcohol related fatalities are Texas, California, Florida, Pennsylvania and Illinois. About 81% of all drunk drivers are male drivers

8. TIME FOR A CHANGE… I think that the state should put tougher laws for D.U.I. When you are driving under the influence you have no control over your actions or the car. I am not saying that speeding 30 or 40 mph over the speed limit is right or even necessary, but you at least have control over the car and your actions. I don’t think being sent to prison for speeding is a solution. If tougher laws were thought of for drinking and driving maybe less people would do it and our communities would be somewhat safer. There should not be the same penalty for driving under the influence and speeding because they are two different things. I think in order for there to be a change in our community the law for D.U.I should not be the same as it is for speeding. The D.U.I law should be much tougher and harsher on individuals who drive under the influence.
