The function of family is to implement the practice of nursing care, namely to prevent the occurrence of health problems and / or caring for sick family members. The ability of families in providing health care affects the health status of the family. Undertaking carrying out family health maintenance can be seen from the task of family health.

5 Functions of Family Care 1. Knowing the health problem; 2. Making decisions that appropriate with health measures; 3. Doing the treatment; 4. Maintaining or creating a healthy home atmosphere; 5. Maintaining relations with public health facilities.

1. Knowing the health problem; Parents need to know the health conditions and changes experienced by family members. 2. Making decisions that appropriate with health measures This task is a major effort for families who seek help appropriate to their family circumstances, with consideration of who among the family who has the ability to decide to determine the family action.

3. Doing the treatment Families are expected to care for sick family members, although with the help of health workers, and is expected to make a minimum first aid. 4. Maintaining or creating a healthy home atmosphere; With the ability to modify the family environment family can perform preventive and rehabilitative measures in efforts to improve family health.

5. Maintaining relations with public health facilities. The ability of families in the use of force / area of health is expected to be able to be done by families in overcoming health problems.

Problems that be able to Appear 1. Inability to know families in family health problems. Could be due to: a. Lack of knowledge b. Fear of the consequences if the problem is known:  Social: fear of being labeled by society, reduced / loss awards  Economic: costs, financial capability  Physical and psychological c. The attitude and philosophy of life

2. Inability of families to take a decision in doing appropriate action. Could be due to:  Not understanding the nature, weight and extent of the problem  Health problems are not so prominent  The family could not solve the problem because of lack of knowledge and lack of family resources  Not able to choose among several options action

3. The inability of families caring for a sick family member. Could be due to:  Not knowing the disease state, such as the nature, causes, spread, disease, symptoms and treatment, as well as growth and development of children  Not knowing about the progress of treatment is needed  Less / no facilities necessary for the maintenance  Negative attitude towards the sick

4. Inability to maintain a family in a home environment that can affect the health and personal development of family members. Can be caused by:  These sources are not enough families, including financial, responsibility / authority, physical state house who are not eligible (the house does not irregular, crowded or narrow)  Less can see the advantages and benefits of maintaining a home environment  Ignorance of the importance of environmental sanitatione.  Ignorance about disease prevention efforts

5. The inability of families to use community resources in order to maintain good health. Can be caused by:  Do not know that the health facilities that exist  Not understand the benefits  Lack of trust of health workers and health institutions  Unfavorable experience of health workers  No reasonable facilities necessary (distance or cost)

The Benefits of Data for Nurses 1. To determine the extent of family health problems known. 2. To determine the extent to which the ability of families to make decisions appropriate health measures; 3. To determine the extent to which the ability of families caring for a sick family member;

4. To determine the extent to which family the ability to maintain or create a healthy home atmosphere, 5. To determine the extent to which family the ability to maintain relationships with public health facilities. 6. To assist in the enforcement of Family Nursing Diagnose appropriate.
