When we want to talk about anything in French we need a subject for our sentence. We have seen a couple of French subject pronouns already. I Je

In French there are two you’s In French there are two you’s. This one is used to talk to someone your own age and a family member. It is know as the « informal you » tu you

This the the other « you » in French This the the other « you » in French. This « you » is used to address more than one person and it is used to address an adult or someone you don’t know. This is known as the « formal you » You Y’all Vous

They Ils

In French there are two « theys » in French In French there are two « theys » in French. The first one is used to refer to a group of all boys or a mixed group of people. Elles is used to address a group of girls only. They Elles

Subject pronouns are important in French because we need them to talk to each other, about other people and about ourselves. We also use subject pronouns with verbs. When you use subject pronouns and verbs together they need to match or agree, this is called conjugation.

To Be - Etre This verb is the first verb that you will learn how to conjugate in French. It is an irregular verb. This means that it does not follow any rules and that it is the only verb that is conjugated in this way. Etre is unique.
