CONTEMPLATIVES Loving God Through Adoration

 IN THE SAME WAY THAT SOME PEOPLE EXPRESS LOVE AND AFFECTION TO EACH OTHER IN ROMANTIC WAYS, CONTEMPLATIVES EXPRESS THEIR LOVE THROUGH ADORATION.

Contemplatives DEEPLY ADORE GOD.

Luke 10: As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.

Luke 10:38-42 She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"

Luke 10: "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." NIV

Contemplatives Deeply adore God. Knowing God goes beyond facts, they love God Experiencing him is more important than service. Deeply adore God. Knowing God goes beyond facts, they love God Experiencing him is more important than service.

Contemplatives DEEPLY ADORE GOD. FREELY PRAISE GOD. DEEPLY ADORE GOD. FREELY PRAISE GOD.

Ps 63:1-8 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Ps 63:1-8 2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. 3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. 4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Ps 63:1-8 6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. 7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

Contemplatives Freely praise God They can have powerful worship experiences while alone. Praise easy rolls off their lips. Freely praise God They can have powerful worship experiences while alone. Praise easy rolls off their lips.

Col 4:2-5 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. NIV

Contemplatives Mystically unite with God. Talk of their relationship in mystical ways Vine and Branches -- Abiding with Christ Opening the door to him -- Supping with him Bridegroom to their bride He is the Shepherd, they are the sheep Prayer is the heart of their worship Mystically unite with God. Suggested Activities 1. Make use of the Jesus prayer (Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner) or some other prayer (Make haste to help me.) Purpose: to practice the presence of God, reminding yourself that Jesus is Lord, you are a sinner, you need His mercy. 2. Practice secret acts of devotion – something you do for someone else without letting anyone else know about it. 3. Carry a pocket piece – something tactile to remind you Who you serve, e.g. a small cross. 1.
