Update Existing Records “Primary Key” Set of fields used to uniquely identify records Term, Year, Course Prefix, Number, Section Record IDs Unique Run Ad Hoc

Default Primary Keys Scheduled Teaching Term, Year, Course Prefix, Number, Section Yearly Data Academic Year Workload Information Academic Year Academic Advising Academic Year

Impact of Primary Keys If a Primary Key is in place, you can… Option 1: Create and Update Records Option 2: Update Records What if I’m only creating new records? Check the Results Preview

Creating New Records Brand new activities No impact on existing records If the data fits, you’re good to go

Validation Results Does the screen have a Primary Key? Did I include the Primary Key fields in my file? Do I need to remove duplicate records from my file? Duplicate source records exist Does this record already exist in the system? Did I actually intend to Create New Records? Did I provide a Primary Key or Record ID? Matching record not found

Validation Results Did I use field codes for column headers? Let me check the Configuration Report Unexpected Element Drop-down lists Do I need to ask DM to add the value? Expected an enumerated value
