Pharmacy: is the health profession that links the health sciences with the chemical sciences, and it is charged with ensuring the safe and effective use of medication.

Pharmacy Pharmacology The study of the body's reaction to drugs Toxicology The science that deals with the effects, antidotes, detection of poisons Pharmacognosy The study of medicines derived from natural sources Pharmaceutics The science of the design and manufacture of dosage forms

Microbiology is the study of microorganisms.

Pharmaceutical Microbiology is concerned with biological agents that: 1. Cause human disease e.g. Antibiotic susceptibility tests 2. Spoil prepared medicine A. Minimize the access of microorganisms to the product. B. Formulate the final product to be hostile to microorganisms normally by the addition of preservatives (Methyl Paraben) 3. Produce compounds of medical interest e.g. Biosynthetic Insulin produced by bacteria or yeast
