Presentation transcript:

Our animal is called the loon and it is a bird. The loon has a long neck, black and white feathers, and red eyes, but only in the summer. They have a spear shaped beak and webbed feet. The loon weighs about 9 pounds.

The loon ‘s babies are called chicks. It lives in large deep fresh water lakes. They sometimes build their nests on top of muskrat mounds.

The loon eats fish and earth worms. To help with digestion, loons swallow small pebbles. They swallow their food whole like sharks.

The loon’s predators are sea otters, large raptors, bald eagles, and ospreys. Loons protect themselves from predators with their pointy beaks.

We like this bird because it is pretty and it has red eyes. It is very shy.
