10 Did you know? Each Eagle Talon is powerful, sharp and long, and can exert approximately 1,000 pounds of pressure per square inch in each foot. The eagle talon is used for either holding on to its perch or when it swoops down to pick up fish. The bald eagle can generally carry approx 5 pounds or 2.26 kilograms in its talons.

12 Beak Facts Most Eagles Sharpen their beaks with wood. Bald eagles are able to knock off their own beaks after the age of 40 but it can grow back.

13 Habitat Preference Found near water, such as rivers, reservoirs and lakes. They nest in large tree’s with open crowns; especially cottonwood and white pine tree’s along riparian area’s.

14 Did you know? The largest nest on record was 9.5 ft wide and 20 ft high. It weighed more than 2 tons.
