Promoting an anti-smoking campaign L.O To create a persuasive leaflet to promote anti-smoking campaign

Who is our audience?

Why would we want to promote this campaign? In pairs discuss and write down two reasons why we would want to encourage teenagers and adults to give up smoking.

What are some of the main features of persuasive writing?

Here they are again!! Use mainly the present tense. Use logical and cause and effect connectives. Use emotive language. Use technical language. Use rhetorical questions. Dare the reader to disagree. Try to make opinions sound like facts. Use powerful verbs and strong adjectives.

Here is one I made earlier!! Have a look at a leaflet that I made earlier to promote this campaign. Can spot any of the features that we have previously mentioned about persuasive writing?

Here are some slogans you can use!! All your dreams up in smoke!!! Tobacco Free Zone! Don’t give up giving up! Say NO to smokes!!! Kick your Habit!! Put it out. Right out!!

22% of all male deaths and 11% of all female deaths are due to smoking Giving up smoking can reduce the risk of developing many smoking related illnesses.
