A New Partner Introduced to AAP by Nottinghamshire County Council Seeking partners to help deliver the “Ways to Work” project Looking to promote access to employment using environmentally friendly modes

Changing communities Comprehensive bus route network serving communities across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Bus services provide access to towns and cities for retail, healthcare and social needs Travel trends are changing as traditional industries decline “Ways to Work” uses the established bus network to enable people to access new employment opportunities

Jobseeker Bus Vouchers - objectives Provides free travel for local unemployed people to job interviews Provides free travel to commute to work in the first few weeks of a new job until the first pay cheque arrives Directs users to good travel information about local bus services Simple – easy to understand, unlimited travel in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and South Yorkshire

Funding the project Stagecoach East Midlands funds 40% of the cost of the vouchers as a commercial initiative AAP funds the remaining voucher cost Vouchers are ordered as required, which ensures costs are managed efficiently

Everybody wins! 2,000 vouchers issued to date Enables people to secure employment, which raises self esteem and living standards Bus travel is environmentally friendly, reduces traffic congestion and pollution Encourages more people to use local bus services, which maintains their viability

Everybody wins! Sustains good public transport links to employment, education, healthcare and retail facilities Better living standards, improved self esteem Reduced social exclusion, deprivation crime, and poverty Better communities Cyclical effect, upward spiral

Looking to the future Funding source will continue to provide the current scheme into the near future Working with AAP to seek alternative funding to enable the project to continue Launch of Post 16 student travel initiative in Mansfield following discussions facilitated by AAP Potential to improve Worksop area bus services to deliver better access to employment opportunities
