Communication and Your Child Developing your child’s communication skills at home

Hammer, hammer, hammer Shake, shake, shake Roll, roll, roll Clap, clap, clap Shhhhhhhhh!

What do we mean by ‘communication skills’ ?

Communication is crucial, a key life skill at the heart of every social interaction and vital to children’s successful development.

What did you see? How do you think Sue felt? What would you change?

Think about a time when you and your child have had a really nice time talking and listening together. What made it so special? What did you do? What did your child do? What was happening around you at the time that helped the interaction to be so effective?
