We are delighted that you have enrolled as a student at Middle C Music. We are committed to helping you build a lifelong relationship with music, and we are excited to be part of your musical journey. We are proud to provide you with qualified, experienced instructors. They have been carefully chosen to give you the most professional, specialized, and respected musical instruction possible. To enhance your music education, Middle C takes pride in providing quality instruments, exceptional customer service, and a knowledgeable professional staff to meet your needs. This handbook is intended to familiarize you with our lesson policy and our teachers. We look forward to serving you and your family musically throughout the coming years, and we thank you again for choosing us to help further your music education! -Myrna Sislen and the entire staff of Middle C Music

PROGRAMS OFFERED: Private Instruction: Our instrumental and vocal teachers provide instruction in theory, technique, and performance of many different genres. Instruction is available on voice, piano, guitar, banjo, bass, ukulele, violin, viola, cello, clarinet, recorder, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion for students of all levels. Group Classes and Camps: We offer Mommy and Me Music classes for infants, instrument classes for toddlers, rock band camps for pre-teens and teens, and various other workshops and classes. Check for dates and details. For more information and teacher bios, see

LESSON POLICIES: Half-hour lessons begin promptly at the scheduled time. Hour-long lessons can be arranged. TUITION: Lessons are $ per ½ hour, and are charged on a monthly basis. There is a one-time registration fee of $ for each student. During the school year (from September-May), tuition is charged in advance for the month. No refunds are given on lessons. Tuition is paid to reserve a guaranteed space and teacher for a specific time each week. Each month's tuition must be paid regardless of the attendance of the student. Lessons are given on a month-to-month basis and may be cancelled at any time. We require two weeks' notice to stop lessons.

SUMMER LESSON POLICIES: From June-August, tuition is charged at the end of the month. During the summer, if you provide your teacher with at least one week's notice prior to your absence you will not be charged for the lesson. Teachers are also readily available for makeups. TEACHER ABSENCES: If your teacher is unable to teach a lesson, a qualified substitute will be provided. In the event that a substitute cannot be provided, a credit will be given.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: We ask that students of Middle C Music do the following: Arrive at lessons on time. Students who arrive late do not receive the benefits of a full lesson. Practice! Enjoy making music. Keep a positive attitude and work hard. Have fun with your lessons. Share your talents with your family and friends.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES: The parent’s attitude and involvement is vital to a child’s success in music. It is important that your children practice without interruption, and attend their lessons on a regular basis. Good habits encourage success, and well-placed praise helps them continue. Children learn valuable lessons in perseverance, self-discipline and time management. If your child encounters difficulties in learning or practicing, please let your instructor know. Communication is very important, and the instructors want to help their students and parents. Encourage your children to participate in general music classes, choir, band, or orchestra at school. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to sharpen their musical skills and learn to work musically with others. Expand your child’s interest in music by attending quality musical events with your family and listening to recordings at home. Encourage your child to perform often and to make music with others.
