Coming To The Lord’s Table Intro: 2 Cor. 6:15 – 7:1 Celebrating the Lord’s death and resurrection. Confess our sins and seek His forgiveness

The String Confession of our Sins Sin:- Falling short of the target. Transgression:- Going beyond bounds. Rebellion:- Making decision to do wrong. Iniquity:- Wickedness and wrongdoing. Not Knowing:- Being ignorant of what is right. Godlessness:- Deliberately rejecting God’s will.

Asking For Forgiveness Extent of our Forgiveness Legally Forgiven - Eph. 1:7 Personally Forgiven - Luke. 15:18-20 Continuously Forgiven - Ps. 103:7-10 Transformationally Forgiven - Rom. 6:6-7 Therefore coming to the Lord’s table is a serious business.

Dealing with our sins Deeds of sin:-Awareness of the String. Sin of Omission:-Taking inventory of our inactions and then find justifications for them Sins of the thought and word. Jesus knows our thoughts - Matt. 9:3-5 Every foolish thought is sin - Prob. 24:9 Evil thoughts come from the heart- Matt.15:9 Guard your heart - Prob. 4:23 Exception: Thinking of sin in other to confess it.

Sinning with our thoughts The Past Bringing up past wrongs and luridly experiencing them. Comes often through visual wicked actions. Beware to what you expose your mind. Satan takes advantage by making us recycle those wicked thoughts of the past.

Thought Sins The Future Fantasising and planning to do evil e.g. Elicit relationships and criminal activities Creating an unreal future (Walter Mitty Syndrome. The Present Planning and enacting sin presently

Thought Management Sins of the thought are dangerous and devastating. David’s cry - Ps. 51:10 Jeremiah’s admission - Jerm.17:9-10 Peter’s advice - Guard the gate. 1 Pet.5:8-9 Thought life is the real difference between an obedient and disobedient Christian

How we deal with thought sins Confess them - 1 Jn.1:8 We need to be specific when doing so. Feed on God’s Word - Ps.119:11 Avoid evil attractions -1Tim. 6:11 Cultivate the love of God - Ps.119:17. This was the main difference between Peter and Judas.

Sins in Word (Tongue) Sinners often claim ownership of their mouths and say what we like. Ps.12:4 & Job 13 The power and impact of the tongue. James 3; Prob.21:23; Ps.34:13 and 1Pet. 3:10. Causes more damage than any part of the body. Need to be careful about things we say. Our mouths should glorify and honour God. Our mouths should be source of blessing, healing and encouragement.

Dealing with the sins of the mouth Confess and repent of its impact. Fill your mouth with the word of God (memorising programme helps). Be a person of few words. Prob. 10:19 and Jas. 1:19-20 (This does not apply to preaching). Ask God The Spirit how to help you daily to use your tongue - Ps.19:14 & Ps.71:14-16,
