Enlargement offers opportunities to address challenges together (environment, mobility, energy, socio-economic disparities, security, etc.)  JOINT ACTION ON JOINT ISSUES Policy makers of the countries will meet 3-4 times a year together with the Commission to implement joint policies and align funding  SUSTAINABLE COOPERATION There is already an agreement on the key concrete actions to address the main problems  ACTION PLAN

3 Sustainable mobility Quicker transport –Road links –Railway connections Cleaner transport –More goods transported on the rivers Danube: 50 Million tons (in 2007) Rhine: 330 Million tons (in 2007) Efficient multimodality  TARGET (2020): - Increase cargo transport on the river by 20% - Quicker rail links between cities

4 Better environment Better water quality Stop loss of biodiversity Less floods and industrial accidents  TARGETS (2020): - Restore the Black Sea ecosystems as Ensure the return of threatened species, incl. the sturgeon - Establish plans to reduce risks of floods
