Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE (born January 7, 1985 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire County) - British race driver, Formula 1 world champion in the 2008 season, the Formula 1 world vice-champion in Resident of Geneva.

After winning several karting championships, at the age of 12 he was accepted into the development program for young drivers of McLaren. Previously, he participated in the British Formula Renault in 2000, he was also European champion in karting.

In 2005 the series he won the Formula 3 Euro Series, driving for the team ASM. A year earlier he represented the Manor Motorsport. He started the 2006 season in the GP2 Series for the team ART, taking the place of last year's series champion, Nico Rosberg, who started racing in Formula 1. His biggest rival was Nelson Angelo Piquet, the son of three-time champion of Formula 1 - Nelson Piquet, who eventually lost his chance at the title after the penultimate race of the season at Monza in Italy.

Thanks to a very good attitude in the GP2 race in secured the 2007 season Formula 1 his employer was McLaren and partner of double world champion - Fernando Alonso. In his debut in F1 Grand Prix of Australia he took third place. He was the first driver since 1996 who made his debut with a place on the podium during Grand Prix. The last driver in the UK has reached such result 41 years ago. In his next three starts he was not descended from the podium (three times second place) after the Spanish Grand Prix (only his fourth Grand Prix) became the youngest ever world championship leader.

In just the sixth race in Formula 1 (Grand Prix) he crossed the finish line first. This success is repeated a week later at the U.S. Grand Prix, fending off attacks of his teammate, double world champion Fernando Alonso. In a series of mistakes on the track in the last two races he ended up on second position in overall statistics in the championship.

In 2008 his partner in the team was Heikki Kovalainen.
