Kansas State Department of Education This step is for new users Complete the information on the registration sheet. Choosing a building (the high school) from the building drop down box allows the user to apply for a school-type role “School Update or Approve” that is connected to only that one building. By choosing all buildings the user will be able to choose the “District/Org Update” role.

Data Entry: Pathways: Assign/Update

Kansas State Department of Education 1.Click on “My CPPSA’s.” 2.Select “Approved by KSDE” as the status. 3.Change the “School Year” to the year you will be completing data for ( ) 4.Click “View/Filter CPPSA’s.”

Kansas State Department of Education Under “Actions,” there are five options: View/Print-View and or print the CPPSA that was approved by KSDE. Assign Teachers-Assign teachers to the courses in the pathway. Each course must have at least one teacher. A teacher can be assigned to multiples courses in multiple pathways. Assign Students-This section is to assign students to a pathway. Students can only be assigned to one pathway per year. Update Current Students-Student data is recorded here for single parent, status, 3 rd party assessment, competency profile, and certification data.

Kansas State Department of Education Assign Teachers A new window will appear. Click on the box next to the teacher (s) to assign. Click on “Save Teachers.” Repeat for all courses taught for the year.

Kansas State Department of Education Assign Students  The students that come up on the “assign students” screen {next slide} are students that: have an EOYA record sent by any building in the state AND STCO Record that includes:  The school identifier is the building for which the pathway is approved, and  The SSID for the student, and  The course code for the SCRS completion record is for a course that is part of the approved pathway, and  The educator identifier was assigned to the course on the assign teachers screen, and  The school year field has a value for the current year, and  The completion status on the STCO record has a value of 01

Kansas State Department of Education Assign Students 1. Under the “In this Pathway?” column, select any students that are to be assigned to this pathway and have at least one credit in this pathway. Students can only be assigned to one pathway, and if they are previously assigned to another pathway, you will take them out of that pathway by clicking in the “In this pathway?” column. The page will automatically save. 2. If a student (s) is missing, click on the “Show All Students” link at the top of the page.

Kansas State Department of Education Update Current Students 1.Update single parent status (see below) 2.Update status on right as participant, concentrator, concentrator who exited, or concentrator who exited for other reasons. 3.For concentrators who exit, insert pass/fail for the assessment, indicate any certifications, and/or list the competency percentage. 4.Click “Save Students” at the bottom of the page.

Participant: A student who has earned one (1) but less than three (3) secondary level credits in a single career and technical education (CTE) pathway Concentrator: A student who has earned three (3) or more secondary level credits in a single CTE pathway, with two (2) of those credits being at the technical and application level *Concentrator who Exited: A student who has met the criteria to be considered a concentrator AND has graduated secondary education with their cohort class AND has met at least 80% of their pathway competencies. Concentrator who Exited for Other Reasons: A student who has met the criteria to be considered a concentrator who exited but has either 1) not met at least 80% of the competencies by graduation or 2) will not graduate with their cohort class. The reasons for this include but are not limited to the student: transferring out of district, dropping out of high school, or passing away. *These are the students who will be followed up on in the following Spring (2013).

Kansas State Department of Education Entering Career Goal Data  Save the “Update Students” page before clicking on “Edit Goals” for a student.  The career goals data section is not required for student data reporting.  If the student has an account in the Kansas Career Pipeline with their KIDS ID number, this information will automatically pull in.

Kansas State Department of Education 1.A new window will appear-allow for pop-ups with pathways. 2.In the window, select the school year for the reports to be accessed. 3.At this point, the user can choose more specific details to select by adding the building number, cluster, or pathway/VE-2 program, or the user can select to export the report to a PDF, Excel, or CSV. 4.Select PDF or Excel. 5.Select Open, Save, or cancel.

Kansas State Department of Education Non-CAR Report Definitions: Certifications and Credentials: This report lists each Pathway or VE-2 Program and the certifications and/or credentials that have been assigned to it by the district. Downloadable Basic Enrollment: This report lists all students, and will have additional filters by student statuses: All Students, Participants, Concentrators, Concentrators who exited, Concentrators who exited for other reasons. Downloadable Basic-Exiters (Completers): This report displays data for students with the “Concentrator who exited” status. Downloadable Basic Follow-up: This report lists the students who were reported for Follow-up. This list of students only includes students who had a “Concentrator who exited” status, and were reported the following year. Exiters (Completers): This report displays data for students with the “Concentrator who exited” status. Minority Gender Concentrator Detail Report: This report will function the same was as the Minority-Gender Detail Report, except it will not include Participants.

Kansas State Department of Education NON-CAR Report Definitions, cont. Minority Gender Detail Report: This report replaces the Basic Grant Cluster Report. This report will have an additional filter that allows it to be run with students listed as two or more races for CAR reporting, and with the individual race selections for other reports. Pathways: This report is a list of the pathways separated by building number and listing all courses in the pathway. Pathways Without Students: The Pathways Without Students report lists any Pathway that has zero participants or concentrators (any of the three types) for the selected year. Potential Students-Not Assigned: The Potential Students – Not Assigned lists any student who is not marked as a participant or concentrator (any of the three types) for the selected year. Program Pathway Courses: This report will list all of the courses available at a district or building for pathways or VE2 programs for each unique CIP Code, Course number, and Teacher ID combination. Total Concentrators: This report lists all students with the “Concentrator”, “Concentrator who exited”, and “Concentrator who exited for other reasons’” statuses. VE2 Program Details: This report shows the teachers assigned and Ve2 programs available

Kansas State Department of Education CAR Reports/Indicator Definitions 1S1-Academic Attainment – Reading (NCLB): Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators who have met the “meets standard” or above level on the statewide high school reading/language arts assessment based on the scores that were included in the state’s computation of AYP and who left secondary education in the reporting year. Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators who took the reading/language arts assessment and who left secondary education in the reporting year. 1S2-Academic Attainment-Math (NCLB): Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators who have met the “meets standard” or above level on the statewide high schools mathematics assessment based on the scores that were included in the state’s computation of AYP and who left in the reporting year. Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators who took the mathematics assessment and who left secondary education in the reporting year. 2S1-Technical Skill Attainment: Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators who passed the technical skill assessments that are aligned with industry-recognized standards, if available, and appropriate, during the reporting year. Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators who took the assessments during the reporting year. 3S1-School Completion: Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators who earned a regular secondary school diploma. Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators who left secondary education during the reporting year.

Kansas State Department of Education CAR REPORT/Indicator Definitions, cont. 4S1-Student Graduation Rate: Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators who, in the reporting year, were included as graduated in the state’s computation of its graduation rate. Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators who, in the reporting year, were included in the state’s computation of its graduation rate. 5S1-Total Placement: Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators who left secondary education and were placed in postsecondary education or advanced training, in the military services, or employment in the second quarter following the program year in which they left secondary education. Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators who left secondary education during the reporting year. 6S1-Nontraditional Program Participation: Numerator: Number of CTE participants from underrepresented gender groups who participated in a program that leads to employment in nontraditional fields during the reporting year. Denominator: Number of CTE participants who participated in a program that leads to employment in nontraditional fields during the reporting year. 6S2-Nontraditional Program Completion: Numerator: Number of CTE concentrators from underrepresented gender groups who completed a program that leads to employment in nontraditional fields during the reporting year. Denominator: Number of CTE concentrators who completed a program that leads to employment in nontraditional fields during the reporting year. Summary Report – This report pulls a summary of the other 7 reports
