Students will wear the Golden Valley PE uniform During cold weather, students may also wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt (Grey or Black) Street clothes may not be worn under the PE uniform All PE uniforms should be marked with students first and last name Students must wear athletic shoes that can be tied or cinched (NO sandals, heels, boots, or slip-ons) NO EXCUSES!! Loaners are available to borrow for the day

New for this year… There is a new non-dress policy, because we provide loaners. Every non-dress (after your first) lowers your grade automatically by a whole letter grade: 2 non-dresses = B3 non-dresses = C 4 non-dresses = D 5 non-dresses = F and entry to OR Additionally, your 3 rd non-dress will be an automatic referral to the counselor and/or administrator NO EXCUSES!! Loaners are available to borrow for the day

Each student will be assigned his/her own locker and lock (DO NOT SHARE YOUR COMBONATION WITH ANY OTHER STUDENT) Do not leave any personal belongings out in the locker room GVPE is NOT responsible for any lost/stolen items No food or drink is allowed in the locker room (other than bottled water) Students will be allowed into the locker room at the beginning and end of their PE periods only The locker room is off limits before and after school

A student is tardy he/she is not in the locker room at the tardy bell A student will be marked tardy if he/she is not seated on his/her roll call number before the teacher begins taking roll Students have 5 minutes to dress after the tardy bell and 7 minutes at the end of the period Tardy students will students will lose the ability to earn full participation points due to time missed in class REPEAT OFFENDERS WILL BE SUBJECT TO DETENTION, SATURDAY SCHOOL, AND REFERRALS TO THE ADMINISTRATORS

A written note from a parent/guardian is valid for 3 days only Students must provide a doctors not to be excused for more than 3 days (given to the nurse) Medical issues must be communicated clearly and promptly to the teacher WE DON’T WANT ANYONE TO GET HURT!

Days that are missed for any reason (injury, sickness, etc.) or points that are not earned in classcan be made up one of two ways. (if you have questions…SEE YOUR TEACHER) 1.A weekly make-up run will be offered during lunch for students for students to make up participation points and complete missing graded runs (This will take place during the FIRST and THIRD WEDNESDAY of each month) 2.A take home assignment may also be completed to make up missing participation (This needs to be completed within 2 weeks of the original absence) See your teacher or the Golden Valley PE website for the handout

Sportsmanship will be a large component of the physical education program at Golden Valley Negative language, being rude to peers or the teacher, or refusal to participate in a game or activity could all negatively impact a student’s grade Safety rules and protocol will be enforced throughout the year to keep all students as safe as possible DO NOT touch equipment unless instructed to by the teacher DO NO T participate in an activity until rules/safety have been discussed DO NOT misuse, vandalize, or break equipment Make your teacher aware of ANY injuries that occur

Each day a student will have the ability to earn 10 points Points may come from a variety of activities including: -Graded runs -Games/activities -Written work -Fitness Gram -Sportsmanship and overall participation GRADING SCALE %A 80-89%B 70-79%C 60-69%D 0-59%F

This year, all students will be completing written/classroom activities on a weekly basis. There will be a focus on literacy in PE…why are we doing what we are doing? The written portion of the class will comprise a large part of your grade. IT’S IMPORTANT. As such, every student will be asked to bring a spiral notebook to class. It will stay in your PE locker and come out on your classroom days.

Your grade from last semester and your first week this semester may qualify you for GRIZZLY PE!

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PE CLOTHES OR CANNOT AFFORD CLOTHES OR HAVE LOST YOUR CLOTHES, YOU MUST TALK TO YOUR PE TEACHER Starting next week, all students are expected to be dressed. If you have a plain grey/white shirt and dark shorts, THAT IS ACCEPTABLE. Asking for repeated loaners or choosing not to dress is UNACCEPTABLE.

This semester, we will also have the ability to add new periods of PE called Grizzly PE. Grizzly PE is for any student that received a D, F, or low C in PE last semester. Additionally, students may be added to Grizzly PE at the discretion of the teacher (did you not dress quite often last semester? Were you not involved in games/activities? Did you have a poor attitude?) Grizzly PE will follow a different format than other sections of PE – with the same grading scale – but it will NOT be as fun. Grizzly PE students will spend most days on the track or doing fitness activities…it’s our way of making sure you pass PE! You’re welcome.
