‘Open Wide the Door of Faith’ 11 th October th November 2013

Pope Benedict XVI has announced a Year of Faith to begin on 11 October the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council and ending on 24 November the Feast of Christ the King.

What is the ‘Year of Faith’ about?

It is an invitation to deepen our understanding, to live and to pray …

…. It is an opportunity to celebrate and renew our faith … individually …. …with our families ….

…in our parishes … …and in our schools…

… across our Country and across the world ….

The Year of Faith Logo …. What does it symbolise?

A Sun – symbolising the Eucharist Sails – Showing the 3 symbols of the trigram of Christ (IHS) A Boat - symbolising The Church Waves – symbolising the church afloat across many waters

At our baptism, the baptismal candle was lit as a sign of our faith …. It is a challenge to keep our light of faith burning in our lives today…

We can keep the light of faith burning by growing in our faith.

We grow in our faith every day …. when we pray, when we learn about God,

… when we show love to one another… … and when we care for those who are not as lucky as we are.

Pray Deepen our own knowledge Witness Serve Four ways we can partake in the Year of Faith….

PRAY: Make an extra effort to include prayer as part of your life every day ….

LEARN: Strive to learn new things about your faith ….

WITNESS: Try to be more like Jesus in your Dealings with others - show you care and be considerate

SERVE: We can take care of those who are not as lucky as we are, just like Jesus did. This year raise awareness, fundraise and help others.

During this Year of Faith: We hope that we will come to be people of faith and live like Jesus wants us to
