Etiology Of Depression Cognitive By Solene and Azura

The etiology of Depression includes physiological, psychological, and environmental factors. The etiology of depression has been divided under these factors. Personality Traits Irrational Thought Process Learned Helplessness Stress Obesity

pessimism, low self-esteem, anxiety or excessive worrying, hypersensitivity, fear of rejection, a sense of isolation from the others, a superiority or inferiority complex, feelings of inadequacy People who posses specific personality Traits like… …are most prone to suffer from depression

Where does it originate from? Biological differences Neurotransmitters Hormones Inherited traits Life events Early childhood trauma

Irrational Thought process People develop a negative way of thinking such as: blame themselves for their misfortune, misinterpret every fact in a way, (that will further lower their self-esteem which can be a step on the path towards depression.) These errors in judgment and thinking lead them to believe that their future is going to be as negative as their perceived present, usually resulting in depression.

Treatment Prescribed medication (anti-depressants) Psychological counseling (psychotherapy) Lifestyle changes/adjustments Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Psychodynamic Therapy Electric Shock Treatment (only very extreme cases when medicine fails to work, but it is apparently very effective)
