4  Why might those with a Psychological Disorder seek treatment?  Think about the 3 criteria.  Brainstorm:  Think of 1 way a doctor treat diseases  How do they treat them?

5  Psychotherapy: therapy aimed at making patients aware of their unconscious motives so that they can gain control over their behavior.  What might be some ways of making someone aware that their behaviors are not normal?

8  Changes undesirable behavior through conditioning techniques. One way to condition:  Systematic Desensitization  Technique to help a patient overcome irrational fears.  Example: getting over a fear of dogs.  What class of disorders might this work best for?  Anxiety Disorders

9  Assumes that there is an underlying physiological disturbance that is directly related to the psychological disorder.  Treatment is done by making up for imbalances in the brain.  Major treatment: Drug Therapy.  Using medication to treat the symptoms of the disorder.  Schizophrenia, Mood, Anxiety disorders
