Modern Irish Courts System Ronan Fitzpatrick Origins Brehon Law system Old oral tradition written down in the 7th century. Administered by Brehons who interpreted the law in the interest of Justice. Began to change in the 12th century when English monarchs sought to make Ireland part of their kingdom.
