Graphic Aids help readers understand the text.

A lot of nonfiction stories include graphic aids. Examples include diagrams, timelines, maps, charts, and graphs.

A diagram shows the parts of something or how something works.

A timeline shows events in the order they happened.

A map is a picture that shows where places are.
