‘Zobop’ ‘Zobop’ Jim Lambie 1999 Vinyl tape Home Learning/ S1 Jim Lambie inspired floor drawing Choose a room or space you know. This could be a room in your house or a garden. Think about the shape of the space, try finding one with areas that aren’t straight or have a areas that change shape. Draw the space onto paper lightly. You could use a ruler or free-hand. Draw a line following the inside edge of your drawing. Use thick pens or pencils. Draw another line with a different colour next to the first line. Keep going, changing the colour to another you think goes well or is interesting next to the other colours. As you add more lines you will see the different shapes of the room are emphasised and the lines change shape more and more. Extension/ You could try this with a tonal pencil; changing the tones for each line. You could try using rolled up colourful material, clothes or objects and place them against the edge of a space then add repeated ‘lines’ out into the middle of the space.. What you need – Paper a Pencil Colour pens or pencils Jim Lambie is a Scottish contemporary artist. This means he is living and making artwork right now.

Home Learning/ S1 Design an Imaginary Map/ Create your own country or place. 1. Lightly draw out shape of the country. You could show part of a bigger piece of land or draw out an island shape. Look at the examples. Think about the age of your map. You could show ancient civilisations, the present or the future – perhaps a moon base. 2. Add features to your map. You could start by adding rivers and lochs. Other features you could add – Mountains Forests, trees, bridges, roads, large structures (like pyramids) Cities with castles, sports stadiums, parks. Villages with only a few buildings. Buildings on their own; big or small. Animals, people, ships, planes. Add colour and tone by mixing colours, or creating tone with a lead pencil. 3. Add names of places on the map – names of the mountains, cities and places. 4. Think of a name for the country or place and design lettering for it. Draw lettering in one of the corners of your map. 5. Design a flag for your country or place. Think how you could show something about place visually in your flag. 6. Add a compass.

Design a imaginary Map/ Think about viewpoint and scale of your map. You could draw a section of a country or draw out shapes to create islands.
