2013/14 Bellmoore School Council Survey Presented April 2014

2013/14 Bellmoore School Council Survey The purpose of the survey was to obtain feedback from the school community regarding school council activities. The 2012/13 Survey was used as a base line to form the questions. The survey opened in January 2014 and closed February 24, A total of 36 individuals responded to the survey. A weighted average was used to determine the ranking for questions 1, 2 and 3.

Question 1: Rank the Following 15 Possible School Council Activities* in Order of Priority * Top 15 suggested activities from 2012/2013 School Council Survey

Question 2: Rank the Following 14 Possible Fundraising Activities in Order of Priority

Question 3: Which of the Following 5 Activities* would increase your involvement with School Council? * Suggested activities from 2012/2013 School Council Survey

Question 4: Are There Other Activities You Would Like to See Added to Questions 1, 2 or 3? Listed below is a summary of responses to Question 4 Question 1: Open gym time during winter, Science Fair, Legomania, guest speaker night. Question 2: Fair trade Chocolate sales, magazine fundraiser. Question 3: Use social media to keep in contact with parents, notes from Principal and Teachers directly, parent question and answer period. Responses to Question 4 will be incorporated into future surveys.

Question 5: Would Parent Workshops be Useful to You?

Question 6: If Parent Workshops Were Offered, What Topics Would You Like to See? A total of 14 topics to choose from were provided in the survey. The top 5 Topics were as follow: Raising Emotionally strong Children / Self Esteem Motivate Your Child Bullying Positive Discipline Social Media Safety

Question 7: If Parent Workshops Were Offered, What Would be the Best Day and Time for you to Attend? The majority of respondents found Wednesday or Thursday evenings to be the most suitable days to attend a workshop. This was followed by Saturday morning.

Question 8: How Often do You Use the School’s Website to Check on Information and Events?

Question 9: What Items Would You Like to See Included on the School Website? The following themes were included in the survey response: » School Council Minutes up on the website in a timely manner » Calendar of Events at the School and Fund Raising Activities » More Up to Date Calendar and list of What’s Happening at the school
