 Adjective a word that is used to modify a noun or a pronoun  What Kind?: gentle dog, Irish town, scary movie  Which One?: sixth grade, these books, other people  How Many or Much?: two tickets, full pitcher, no work  Ex: › The dog is gentle. › The sea, blue and sparkling, stretched out before us invitingly.

 I have a free ticket for the last game.  A shiny coin stared up at me from the icy sidewalk.  Three colorful birds perched in the tall, green trees.  The Egyptian mummies are on display on the first floor.

 This, that, these, and those can be both as adjectives and as pronouns.  When they modify nouns or pronouns, they are called Demonstrative Adjectives  Ex:  Adjective: What are these skates doing in the kitchen?  Pronoun: What are these doing in the kitchen?  Adjective: I prefer that brand of frozen yogurt.  Pronoun: I prefer that.
