WHAT IS STRATEGIC PLANNING? Reviewing current mission, internal operations & resources Examining the external environment Setting priorities Establishing improvements and changes, which, can more effectively help our mission and promote our growth Developing short term and long term plans Mapping a strategy towards the future WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? Stabilize the Cathedral, following a period of close to three years of rapid changes and turmoil Review our ten year old “Vision and Mission” Tackle conflicting issues affecting the Cathedral (recent and historical) Reconsider Cathedral operations and supporting needs Request of Metropolitan Tikhon Create an action plan that our priests can use to lead our Cathedral WHO IS TO BE INVOLVED? Initially, a small dedicated representative group with the right abilities for strategic planning will develop some proposals Subsequently, larger groups will form from parishioners and become involved helping to shape and further the proposal Finally, the full parish will engage being asked to review and decide on the final plan T HE I DEA IS TO PLACE OUR C ATHEDRAL IN A BETTER POSITION TO CARRY OUT ITS MISSION AND M INISTRY
