Protect Yourself From NBC Injury/Contamination With The Appropriate Mission-Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) Gear 031-503-1015

Conditions You are at MOPP level 0. Given MOPP gear (chemical protective Over garment, mask, hood, over boots, protective gloves, individual Decontamination kits, and antidotes), FM 3-11.4, TM 3-4240-279-10, TM 3-4240-280-10 and one of the following situations where you: Are ordered to do so, Learn a chemical attack is about to happen Must enter an area where chemical agents have been used. Recognize a chemical hazard. Are attacked with chemical agents without warning

Standards Protect yourself from CBRN injury or contamination with MOPP gear. Perform all steps in sequence, and achieve MOPP 4 in 8 minutes

Performance steps 1. Put on MOPP gear for MOPP 1 a. Don the trousers 1. Put on the over garmenttrousers over your normal duty uniform or over your undergarments in hot weather 2. Secure the trousers by snapping and zipping the trousers and adjusting the waistband for a snug fit 3. Do not fasten the bottom of the trousers at this time b. Don the jacket 1. Put on the overgarment jacket 2. Zip it up 3. Fasten the snaps c. Secure the jacket to the trousers by snapping the three snaps across the back of the jacket to the trousers

Performance steps Put on additional MOPP gear (protective overboots) to reach MOPP 2 a. Put the green or black vinyl overboots on over the leather combat boots, securing them by pulling the rubber bands around the metal buttons b. Blouse the overgarment trouser legs over the chemical-protective overboots c. Secure the overgarments trouser legs by pulling the zipper down, tying the drawstring, and securing the hook-and-pile closure

Performance steps 3. Put on your protective mask with hood to reach MOPP 3 a, Don the protective mask b. Don the hood c. Attach the underarm straps Note: The time standards for masking do not apply to this task The “buddy system” is encouraged

Performance steps Put on additional MOPP gear to reach MOPP 4 a. Secure your MOPP gear by zipping all zippers and closing all closures b. Put on the chemical protective gloves (rubber gloves and liners) c. Pull the elastic cuffs of the overgarment jacket sleeves over the cuffs of the chemical protective gloves.
