  There were a lot of pharaohs in ancient Egypt some well known ones were Khufu, Tutankhamen, Hatshepsut, Thutmose and Ramesses.  People built many great structures in honour of their Pharaohs. They built pyramids, lifelike structures and half man half lion statues. Pharaohs

  There were eight steps of mummification and it took a lot of time to complete.  The people were specially trained and got in priests to say prayers for the dead Pharaoh. They took the brain out of the dead Pharaoh’s nose! They then had to wash them in natron for forty days [a special type of salt]. Once everything was done they put him in a coffin. Mummification

  When Khufu was the Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt he ordered people to build a great pyramid in honour of him. It was believed that 100,000 people built it. It was made out of 2 million blocks of limestone and some of those blocks weighed as much as 400 men! It took 20 years to complete. The Great Pyramid

The great Pyramid of Giza was built for him and is now one of the seven wonders of the world. It isn’t clear how long he ruled for as scientists haven’t found out yet. Khufu

  Without the River Nile there would have been no life in Ancient Egypt. The people grew their crops there, drank water from there, kept cool there and sent messages and packages along the river to get to the Pharaoh. A plant called papyrus was often grown along the banks of The River Nile. During September the Nile would burst its banks and would create rich, thick mud. The River Nile
