How Long Does It Take To Build A Pyramid ? It is estimated that it took 20 - 50 years for 4-5000 men to build the Great Pyramid.

Howard Carter (9 May 18742 March 1939) was an English archaeologist and Egyptologist who became world famous after discovering the intact tomb of 14th-century BC pharaoh Tutankhaman (colloquially known as King Tutankhaman and the boy king ).

What is meant by the "gift of the Nile"? All of Egypt depended on the Nile for water, food and transportation. The Nile also provided the ancient Egyptians with fertile land which helped them to grow their crops and raise their animals. Before modern dams were built the river Nile would flood each year coating the land on either side of the river with thick back mud. This mud was ideal for growing crops on.

Pharaohs/Gods Some gods and goddesses took part in creation, some brought the flood every year, some offered protection, and some took care of people after they died. Others were either local gods who represented towns, or minor gods who represented plants or animals.

The cat in Ancient Egypt Cats (Felix silvestris cactus), known in Ancient Egypt as "mau", were important in ancient Egyptian society. Based on recent DNA comparisons of living species, it has been estimated that cats were first domesticated from the Middle Eastern subspecies of the Wildcat about 10,000 years ago in the Fertile Crescent. Thousands of years later, the peoples in what would later be Upper and Lower Egypt had a religion centering around the worship of animals, including cats.

How old was Tutankhamen when he died ? King Tutankhaman was only 19 when he died and he died from malaria and a bone condition on circa in 1323 BC.

What happened to normal people in Egypt when they died ? After a person died their soul would go on a series of challenges to get to the afterlife. The first one was crossing a wide river. After that, the soul would have to pass through seven gates, while chanting ancient spells.

Ancient Pyramids The shape of Pyramids is thought to have been inspired by the spreading rays of the sun.

Who is Tutankhamun ? Tutankhamun was the pharaoh of Egypt between 1337 BC 1328 BC. He became Pharaoh at the tender age of 9.

Mummies are humans or animals where their skin and organs have been preserved. Some interesting facts about mummies are the oldest mummies ever found came from Chile and Peru, their heads can be bought and traded, and they can be frozen so they don't decay. Another interesting fact about mummies is that the Egyptians believed that you could tell about a person's good and bad deeds by looking at their heart.

The creation of Egypt Two separate kingdoms (ruled by different kings) developed along the Nile River. The kingdom in Upper Egypt was known as the white crown and the kingdom in Lower Egypt was called the red crown. In about 3200 B. C. the pharaoh of the north conquered the south and Egypt became united. The pharaoh's name was King Narmer or Menes. Menes built a new capital city called Memphis. In the Greek language the word Memphis meant "Balance of the Two Lands."

In Ancient Egypt times the River Nile burst its banks, as a torrent of water came down from the hills of Ethiopia. This flood water was rich with earth and, as it settled, the Egyptians used it for farming. They also used the River Nile to trade, travelling up and down, as well as fishing and hunting. River Nile

Houses in Ancient Egypt The people of ancient Egypt built mud brick homes in villages and in the country. They grew some of their own food and traded in the villages for the food and goods they could not produce.
