A is for Agriculture By : Luke Pearson Agriculture was developed at least 10,000 years ago. Agriculture is the cultivation of animals, plants, and fungi.

S IS FOR Sod Cabin When settlers could not find wood to make a log cabin, they made sod houses. They cut sod from thickly-rooted prairie grass which was all over the place. Iowa's only fire tower is in Yellow River State Forest. The whole forest is open to hunting (except for campgrounds), hiking, and cross country skiing. The forest was established in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
