WUE in CROP Production Water consumption due to crop production Sum of ET + Application losses. ET + Rain + Irrigation +Runoff + Drainage In Paddy : 1 kg of Rice requires 5000 liter of water ( WUE = 0.2kg/ m3 of water)

WUE of RICE 1kg of rice requires 5000 liters of water 1 ton requires 5ML ofwater ML = 1000, 000 liters WUE express in kg/m2 or ton/ML Average paddy field producing 4 ton/ha under fair water management require between ( 12ML to 16 ML per hectar) 12ML = WUE of 0.33 ML/ha; 15ML = WUE of 0.25

WUE If same standard of Water Management is maintained but Yield improve to 10 ton /ha If 12ML/ha was used, then WUE 10/12 = 0.83 ton/ML If 16 ML/ha was used,then WUE 10/16 = ton/ML
