3 Shelter-In-Place How will I know? The Outdoor Safety Sirens will sound! Information will be scrolled and announced via the news media. Weather radios in schools and other group facilities will sound an alert.

12 Shelter-In-Place LISTEN b Turn on AM radio (tune to KCBS 740) or TV b CCTV will scroll instructions in English, Spanish and Tagalog b County phone ringdown system will start calling affected areas

13 Shelter-In-Place Extra Precautions b Windows that do not seal, spaces under doors, etc. can be sealed with duct tape, plastic, or damp towels. b If you think chemicals are leaking in, have people cover their noses and mouths with damp washcloths, paper towels, or clothing items.

14 Shelter-In-Place It’s all about going inside! b If you are outside - immediately move everyone indoors to a store, shopping mall, etc. b The chemical will be moving with the wind, so move crosswind with the wind at your side.

15 Shelter-In-Place It’s all about staying inside! b You will tie up a needed line at the 911 dispatch center. And the county’s phone ringdown system won’t be able to reach you! b DO call if there is an injury or other immediate emergency to report. Don’t call 911

16 Shelter-In-Place How Will I Know It Is Over? b Listen to KCBS - changes to the Shelter-In-Place advisory and the “all- clear” announcement will be broadcast b News media will receive messages b The scroll on CCTV will stop b County ringdown will re-call residents b For free notification, go to

17 Shelter-In-Place After the emergency... b Local authorities will determine when the event is “all clear.” b Open windows and doors and air out rooms with fresh air.
