Section 30.1 Food Preparation Techniques Most recipes contain the same basic information. There are many techniques to learn for preparing and cooking food. 2

Recipes for Success Recipes can be arranged in several ways: ingredients first, then assembly directions; or combining the ingredients and directions. Ingredients are parts of a recipe and listed in exact amounts and in order used. recipe A list of ingredients and instructions for making a food or beverage. 4

Recipes for Success Directions tell you what equipment is needed, cooking method to use, temperature and time for cooking. Read a recipe carefully before using it. 5
