Andrew Jackson Born 1767 Jackson was called “Common Mans President”. Jackson sent Cherokee out of Georgia on the “Trail of Tears”. Jackson’s face is on the $20. Jackson had a bad temper and was in 13 duels. Jackson vetoed the national bank because it would not help the poor. Jackson adopted a Native American orphan. Founder of the Democratic Party. Increased suffrage (voting). Jackson handed out jobs to his friends (spoils system). Jackson was a hero from the War of 1812. Jackson’s Inauguration Party left the White House trashed. Jackson married a woman who was still legally married to someone else. Called “King Andrew the First” by some because he refused to compromise.
