Shared Governance of majors instructors from several departments contribute to the core courses and administration of the major takes advantage of faculty outside the department that focus their research on the topic of the major -- Biological Sciences, Genetics and Genomics, Human Biology?

To ensure continuity of instruction of shared majors Standing Shared Major committee (e.g., vice chairs + instructors) Home department still needed Assigning of instructors/TA, lab budgets, classrooms, awards etc. Curriculum development/updating BASC staff already advises majors

Impediments or Incentives? Financial considerations – how $ is allocated may foster competition between departments for majors Teaching assignments in revised Teaching Formula
