Marshal role - safety  SAFETY IS A MAJOR FACTOR! PLEASE stay ALERT and PAY ATTENTION to the needs of runners, BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC, ESPECIALLY where runners/walkers need to CROSS ROADS  BE ASSERTIVE, WAVE YOUR FLAG HIGH to PAUSE/SLOW traffic!  WHEREVER POSSIBLE, please direct runners/walkers to REMAIN ON PAVEMENTS. 5

Marshal role - contact  KEEP YOUR CELLPHONE SWITCHED ON THROUGHOUT THE EVENT!  Make sure you have AIRTIME ! (we will reimburse for any calls made)  PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR POST UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO by the ‘Marshal Sweeper’ – the officials who will drive behind the last runners [Tim Bull] and walkers [Paul Greenway] will inform you when to leave. 6

Marshal role - comfort  Please wear comfy shoes, hats, carry water  You will get bibs and flags on race day  Please meet Keelen & Fred in front of the RU Clock Tower (RU Admin building) on Sunday 16 March at 3pm  Then proceed to your marshal positions  ALL marshals must be in place by 4.15pm (event start: 4.30pm). 7

Marshals A, B, C, H 8 B : Cnr Somerset St and African St: Runners and Walkers will come from the start (Drostdy Arch) along Somerset Street. Direct them straight on (north-west) along Somerset Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their left. C/H : Traffic Circle, cnr Somerset St and Worcester St: Runners and Walkers will come from the start (Drostdy Arch) along Somerset Street. Runners: Direct them to their RIGHT into Worcester Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! Walkers: Direct them to their LEFT into Worcester Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their left. A : Cnr Somerset St and New/Prince Alfred St: Runners and Walkers will come from Drostdy Arch (start) along Somerset Street. Direct them straight on along Somerset Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their left. LATER : Walkers will come along Prince Alfred Street [from Point G]. Direct them to their RIGHT into Somerset Street towards Drostdy Arch (Walkers FINISH). START

Marshals D, E, F, G 9 D : Cnr Worcester St and South St: Walkers will come from the traffic circle along Worcester Street. Direct them to their LEFT into South Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their left. E : Cnr South St and African St: Walkers will come along South Street. Direct them straight on along South Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their left. A : Cnr Somerset St and New/Prince Alfred St: Walkers will come along Prince Alfred Street [from Point G]. Direct them to their RIGHT into Somerset Street towards Drostdy Arch ( Walkers FINISH ). F : Cnr South St and Prince Alfred St: Walkers will come along South Street. Direct them to their LEFT into Prince Alfred Street. G : Cnr Prince Alfred St and Lower University Rd (nr Great Hall): Walkers will come along Prince Alfred Street. Direct them over the ZEBRA CROSSING to the PAVEMENT on their right, to continue straight on along Prince Alfred Street [back towards Point A]. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC!

Marshals H, I, J, K, L 10 J : Cnr Milner St and Grocott St: Runners will come along Milner Street. Direct them to their RIGHT into Grocott Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! I : Cnr Worcester St and Milner St: Runners will come along Worcester Street. Direct them to their LEFT into Milner Street. K : Cnr Grocott St and Oatlands Rd: Runners will come along Grocott Street. Direct them to their LEFT into Oatlands Road. L : Cnr Oatlands Rd and Fitzroy St: Runners will come along Oatlands Road. Direct them to their RIGHT into Fitzroy Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC!. H/C : Traffic Circle, cnr Somerset St and Worcester St: Runners and Walkers will come from the start (Drostdy Arch) along Somerset Street. Runners: Direct them to their RIGHT into Worcester Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! Walkers: Direct them to their LEFT into Worcester Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their left.

Marshals M, Water Point, N, P 11 Water Point : Fitzroy St shady tree - opposite intersection with Trollope St (turn off to Makana Brick) and large open park area: Runners will come along Fitzroy Street. Give them water on request. Direct them straight on along Fitzroy Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. Fitzroy St intersection with Park Rd: Runners will come along Fitzroy Street. Direct them straight on along Fitzroy Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. P : Cnr Fitzroy St and Albany Rd: Runners will come to end of Fitzroy Street. Direct them to their RIGHT into Albany Road, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! M : Fitzroy St intersection with Ayliff St: Runners will come along Fitzroy Street. Direct them straight on along Fitzroy Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. N : Fitzroy St inter- section with Currie St: Runners will come along Fitzroy Street. Direct them over Currie Street and continue towards Albany Road. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC!

Marshals Q, R, S, T, U 12 S : Albany Rd - opp intersection with Fitchat St: Runners will come along Albany Road. Direct them straight on along Albany Road, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. R : Albany Rd - opp intersection with Eyre St, Cobus St: Runners will come along Albany Road. Direct them straight on along Albany Road, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. Q : Albany Rd - opp intersection with Thumbler St: Runners will come along Albany Road. Direct them straight on along Albany Road, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. T : Albany Road - opp intersection with Grave St: Runners will come along Albany Road. Direct them straight on along Albany Road, staying on the PAVEMENT to their right. U : Albany Road - intersection with Robert St/ Anderson Rd: Runners will come along Albany Road. Direct them straight on – now called Anderson Road – staying on the PAVEMENT to their right.

Marshals V, W, X, Y, AA 13 X : Kingswood ‘railway bridge’ - intersect with end of Caldecott St: Runners will come along Caldecott Street. At stop street/railway bridge, direct them to their LEFT towards traffic circle (bottom of High Street), staying on the PAVEMENT to their left. W : Cnr Watermeyer St and Caldecott St: Runners will come along Watermeyer Street. Direct them to their LEFT into Caldecott Street. V : Cnr Anderson Rd and Watermeyer St (nr footbridge over railway): Runners will come along Anderson Road. Direct them past Napier Street, to follow RIGHT CURVE into Watermeyer Street (1- way traffic). BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! Y : Traffic Circle (bottom of High Street): Runners will come down big road from railway bridge. Direct them to their RIGHT at the traffic circle into High Street, staying on the PAVEMENT to their left. BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! AA : Cnr High St and Bathurst StRunners will come along High Street. Direct them to their LEFT into Bathurst Street.

Marshals AB, AC, AD, AE, AF. 14 AD : Huntley St - opp intersection with Thompson St: Runners will come along Huntley Street. Direct them to their RIGHT into Thompson St. AC : Cnr Dundas St and Hill St: Runners will come along Dundas St. Direct them to cross over Hill St at the ZEBRA CROSSING into Huntley Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! AB : Bathurst St - opp intersection with Dundas St: Runners will come along Bathurst Street. Direct them to their RIGHT, into Dundas Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! AE : Cnr Thompson St and High St: Runners will come along Thompson Street. Direct them to their LEFT into High St. AF : Cnr High St and Somerset St: Runners will come along High St. Direct them to cross over Somerset St to the Drostdy Arch. STAY ON PAVEMENT to your left.  At the TRAFFIC CIRCLE, turn RIGHT into Worcester Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC!  At the end of Worcester St, turn LEFT into Milner Street. BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC.  Take first road RIGHT into Grocott Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC!  At the end of Grocott St, turn LEFT into Oatlands Road.  Take first road RIGHT into Fitzroy Street. ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC! ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC!  At the end of Fitzroy St, turn RIGHT into Albany Road. BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC. STAY ON PAVEMENT to your RIGHT.  Continue straight where Albany Rd turns into Anderson Street. STAY ON PAVEMENT to your right.  At end of Anderson Street, follow RIGHT CURVE into Watermeyer Street (1-way).  Take first road LEFT into Caldecott Street.  At stop street/railway bridge (next to Kingswood), turn LEFT (no road name visible). STAY ON PAVEMENT to your LEFT.  Proceed down towards the traffic circle at bottom of High Street. … continued 18

ROAD CROSSING: BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC!  One block before the end of Huntley ST, turn RIGHT into Thompson Street  At the end of Thompson St, turn LEFT into High Street  Cross over Somerset Street. Participants Short (walking) route 2.3 km  Start at the Drostdy Arch on the corner of Somerset and High St  Proceed down Somerset Street towards the north. STAY ON PAVEMENT to your left.  At the TRAFFIC CIRCLE, turn LEFT into Worcester Street. STAY ON PAVEMENT to your LEFT.  Take first road LEFT, into South Street. STAY ON PAVEMENT to your LEFT.  At the second crossroad, turn LEFT into Prince Alfred Street. STAY ON PAVEMENT to your LEFT.  Use the ZEBRA CROSSING to get onto the PAVEMENT on your right, and continue STRAIGHT on along Prince Alfred Street.  Turn RIGHT into Somerset Street.  Finish at the Drostdy Arch 20
