Head East on trail, then East on Lake Hefner Dr. Over bridge to Grand Blvd, continue through Nichols Hills, past 63 rd. 2Grand Blvd at Western – straight through 3 Just past railroad trestle ( before curve North ) view trestle for later discussion. 4At NE 63 rd and Robinson, turn East 5NE 63 rd and Broadway –rest stop ( as needed ) 6NE 63rd and Braniff,( two blocks past Broadway ) (Easy to miss! ) Turn South, then at bottom of hill turn East. Grand Boulevard Historical Bike Tour N Important Notes: As will all OBS rides, You will be riding at your own risk. Wear a helmet. Obey all traffic laws – including stop signs and traffic lights. There are no SAG vehicles following. If you have a problem along the way, and we can not fix it on the trail, you will need to call someone to pick you up. We will be riding 36 miles. Be sure you can ride that many miles. It will be hot. You should bring 1 or 2 water bottles. Fill at least one with Gatorade or other electrolyte sports drink. There will be water re-fill locations. Sometimes cyclists get flat tires, so be prepared with 1 or 2 extra tubes for your wheels. Your local bike shop can get you the right size. Wear and bring sunscreen, as well as some money for snacks.

2 6 7 7A 8 8A 9 6 NE 63rd and Braniff,( two blocks past Broadway ) (Easy to miss! ) Turn South, then at bottom of hill turn East. 7 NE 63 rd and access road, turn East, ride past Kelly, then turn S. on Access road two blocks E of Kelly. Watch for the “Share the Road” sign and turn immediately after the sign. 8 S. on Grand Blvd. Briefly stop at bridge over creek to view the last original vestige of Grand Blvd. 9Continue on G.B. to the Lincoln Park lake dam. Stop here for first mini-lecture. N

3 10 11 10 Continue on GB ( be sure to turn right just past the dam ). In front of the National Guard entrance ( NE 35 th ) get on the side walk to ride on Katy Trail. 11Continue on Katy trail, West on 4 th, then South on MLK. N

4 11 12 13 14 15 16 11Continue on Katy trail, West on 4 th, 12Turn South on MLK 13 Rest stop ( optional ) at the truck stop on the left at the bottom of the bridge or the Gas Station on Reno and MLK. 14Turn left ( East ) on Reno 15As you ride over the bridge, look down to see the new “Eagle Lake Trail” 16Turn Right ( South ) onto Grand Boulevard N

5 17 Oil Well Bridge 17Continue on GB past 15 th and past 29 th. GB curves West. Get on the sidewalk as you pass 29 th and then stop on the wooden bridge at Trosper Park. Time for mini-lecture 2. Afterwards view the oil well across the street ( for later discussion ). N

6 18 19 20 21 22 N 18Continue W. on GB to Pennsylvania. Turn S. on Penn 1 block to Braums. Rest Stop here. 19Leaving Braums, go 1 block S. to 40 th, then West to Youngs, then S. to GB. Turn West on GB. 20 At May, jog left 10 feet onto the trail, then West 2 blocks to Woodson park Bench. Time for Mini-lecture 3. 21 Continue West and North on the trail to the pedestrian bridge over I-44.. It is strongly encouraged that all riders dis-mount and walk their bikes over the bridge. 22Turn North on the trail and cross SE 29 th ( Warning – cars do not stop at this crossing )

Be careful when crossing the railroad tracks. As you see the road curve left around 17 th, move on to the sidewalk on the right. Cross SE 15 th ( Warning – cars do not stop at this crossing ) 24Continue North on the trail towards the river. Turn right (East ) on the river trail. 25Enjoy the river view 26 Go about 3 blocks along the trail ( going under the I-44 overpass ) then turn S. onto the Brookline path ( 1 block west of the May Ave. Bridge, and to the right of the dam. ). 27Go one block S. to SW. 9 th then turn East, go 1 block to May, and turn North ( Left ) on May Ave.( Warning – cars do not stop at this crossing ) N

8 27 28 29 30 26 25 28 Continue North on May and turn left ( West ) on Gordon Cooper Ave ( across from Forest Lumber ) 29 West on Gordon Cooper, then North across the parking lot to the planetarium building ( just N. of the Clamshell Bandstand ). Optional rest stop. Bathrooms and water inside the Contemporary Art museum. 30Ride NW through the fairgrounds to the exit, N on Gordon Cooper which turns into GB near 10 th N

9 30 31 32 33 30 Ride NW through the fairgrounds to the exit, N on Gordon Cooper which turns into GB near 10 th 31Continue N. on GB to 19 th, ( warning – traffic on 16 th does not stop ) 32East on 19 th to Drexel. 33North on Drexel to 39 th. Turn left just past the overpass. Turns into Independence. N

10 33 34 35 36 33 North on Drexel to 39 th. Turn left just past the overpass. Turns into Independence. 34N. on Independence to 69 th. 35 West on 69 th to GB then North to Bridge. 36Return to Stars and Stripes Park. N
