The Mt. Olympus Gods by way of The War of The Giants

Vase in Berlin, Germany There is a vase in the Antikenmuseen museum in Berlin, Germany that depicts the Mt. Olympus gods battling what are sometimes termed as 'giants'. This vase was signed by the creator of the images, Aristophenes, and the potter, Erginos. The representation of serpents on the sheilds of the giants is common on this piece. The vase itself has atleast the three of the main gods Zeus, Hera, Poseiden, and a representation of Gaia.

The Giants the Olympians Fought This image is a depiction of some of the battle against the snake footed giants from The War of The Giants. They have sometimes been mixed up with the Titans. They have also been described in other ways than with snakes as feet or legs. They fought in this war due to the imprisonment of the actual elder gods, the Titans, by their children.

Zeus The thunderbolt was Zeus's weapon, and was crafted by the elder gods/Titans from which he came to be. He was had with two other brothers, and three sisters by two of the imprisoned Titans. He was born as Kronos's and Rhea's son. Zeus was the main god over Mt. Olympus, and lived at the top of the Mountain with the other gods.

Hera Hera was on the vace in Berlin as well, however this image is not of her as she was on there. Zeus ended up marrying her by way of tricks. She was the last wife which Zeus had.Oddly enough, Hera was also Zeus's sister. In The War of The Giants, she battled against a giant named Phoitos.

Poseiden Poseiden was a brother to Zeus. He was also a son of Cronos, considering he was a brother, and Kronos was one of the elder gods, aka one of the Titans. He is always seen holding a spear with three prongs to it, although this sculpture would appear to of lost it's trident from noticing how the right arm and hand are positioned. This type of spear is known as a trident. Both Poseiden's trident, and Zeus's thunderbolt used in the war were made simultaneously by the Titans.

Gaia and Connection with the Other Gods and The War Gaia is known as an earth goddess. She is the one who gave birth to the Titans. After Zeus had been born, she had to help Kronos's wife, Rhea, protect him from being eaten by Kronus. Gaia gathered the giants up to fight due to her children, the Titans, being imprisoned in a place called Tarturus.

Two Sister Gods of Zeus that did not Participate in the War, Yet Gained From It

Demeter Demeter was also one of the children of Kronos and Rhea. She was one of the children which was eaten by Kronos to try to prevent a prophecy that his thrown would be taken over. By way of Zeus being born, and hidden away with the help of Gaia, she was able to be saved and come back out to become the goddess of the harvest. She sometimes is mistaken for Gaia. She also had no reign until after the war was over.

Hestia Hestia had been the first of the Olympian gods to be born. She was also the first to be eaten by their father, Kronos, before Zeus’s birth. The title she carries is the goddess of fire, and she made a vow at one point to stay as a virgin forever. Both her, and the other sister, Demeter, were peaceful, and these are reasons given sometimes as to why they did not get involved in the war.
