TYPES OF EQUIPMENT: OSCILLOSCOPE FUNCTION GENERATOR MULTIMETER POWER SUPPLY OPEN CHOICE SOFTWARE

OSCILLOSCOPE Step 2: Press AUTOSET Step 1: Connect the probe as shown for “PROBE COMPENSATION”. Make sure that you observe 10X at the display as well as on the Probe. Note: We are supposed to get a 1kHz, 5V pk-pk Rectangular Wave as shown above

FUNCTION GENERATOR Step 1: Turn all the knobs to the Minimum. We can do so by turning them counter-clockwise Step 2: Make sure NONE of the buttons are pressed in. Step 3: Select 1kHz and Sine Wave buttons Step 4: Connect the Cable tightly, as shown in the Main Out Port

FUNCTION GENERATOR (contd..) Connect the cable to CH1 of Oscilloscope and to the Main Out of the Function Generator. Generate a 1kHz Sine Wave as shown above.

MULTIMETER Step 1: Connect The cables as shown and turn The dial to the beep icon as shown above Step 3: Connect the cables as shown below. We are Suppose to hear a buzz sound, both at 2A and 10A ports. Step 2: Select V (DC) & Make sure to select either 2, 20 or 200 Range Checking that the built-in fuse for current measurement is OK

POWER SUPPLY Step 1: Make sure to turn the “A/B OUTPUTS” switch right to the INDEPENDENT mark. Step 2: Turn the switch to either A or B and then make sure to use the Same output ports

POWER SUPPLY: (contd..) Step 3: Rotate the “VOLTAGE” knob and check that the terminal voltage matches the voltage indicated by the meter on the instrument. Check that the voltage increases/decreases with the clockwise/counterclockwise Rotation of the knob respectively Step 4: Short the ports at A as shown and rotate the CURRENT knob above and Observe the change in current. Make sure LED is turned ON. Note: Repeat the above procedure for B output too.

OPEN CHOICE SOFTWARE Step 1: Click “Select Instrument” icon Note: Before instrument selection there will be a blank space underneath “Select Instrument” Step 2: Select the GPIB Device and hit identify and then OK

OPEN CHOICE SOFTWARE (contd..) Step 3: Observe that now “TDS 220” is visible underneath Select Instrument icon. Repeat the previous step if you do not see TDS220 Step 4: Click “Get Screen” icon and wait until the Progress window completes the operation

OPEN CHOICE SOFTWARE (contd..) Output of the Oscilloscope should appear at this screen. After this you can click Save As to save your work on a portable device or on the Z: drive Note: If you do not see Oscilloscope’s output and the Progress Window takes a long Time to process, then reboot the oscilloscope, close the software and start from Step 1.
