Managing the Game

What Does It Mean To You It’s more than the use of “common sense.” It’s about: Interpretation of the Laws in a “practical” manner The referee as a “facilitator” of the game Feeling & Reading the game It requires action Functional effort by match officials

Expectations What is expected by Clubs, players and spectators? Team Work Consistency Avoid Confusion

Use of the Whistle Mandatory to stop play? For a free kick or penalty kick If a match is suspended or abandoned When a period of play has ended due to the expiration of time

Mandatory: for Restarts Start play (1 st, 2 nd half) and after a goal Ceremonial free kicks Penalty kick After the issuance of a or Injury Substitution Use of the Whistle
