Progression Decisions are made within each individual NU School –Each School has its own Admissions Committee, made up of Deans and Chairs of individual academic departments and faculty Who makes the Progression Decisions?

Majors – Everyone following the same common course during their first three semesters then they will take specialized courses in one of the following majors. The choice of major is only confirmed at the end of the 3 rd semester and students can change majors until that time –Civil Engineering (CE) –Chemical Engineering ChE) –Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EE) –Mechanical Engineering (ME) School of Engineering (SEng)

SEng – Conditional Admissions Will be considered at the discretion of the Dean. Student Profiles from CPS will also be used in consideration for this admission. Everyone admitted to the School can choose their major at the end of their first year. To major in Economics you must have taken and passed Introduction to Microeconomics, Introduction to Macroeconomics, and Calculus I during your first year. –In order to be eligible for Introduction to Microeconomics you must obtain a 50% or better in CPS Econ or Math Subject score. When you choose your school you will not choose a major, you will only choose the School At the end of your first year you will choose your major based on your interests and performance To major in Economics you must have taken and passed Microeconomics during your first semester. To major in any of the SST disciplines you will declare it on the “Choose your School” program when you are notified of your scores. Choose the school that best suits both your scores and your interest. SST – Miscellaneous Information

1. GPA Conditional - Any student admitted as a “GPA Conditional Student” must achieve a minimum 2.0 grade point average at the end of the Fall Semester. If the student fails to achieve a 2,0 the student will be dismissed 2. EAP Conditional – Any student admitted as a “EAP Conditional Student” is required to take an additional English class curing the Fall semester, and to re-take the EAP exam at the end of the Semester. If the student fails to achieve a score higher than 60% the student will be dismissed Double Conditional – Any student admitted as a “Double Conditional Student” must achieve the results listed in #1 (2.0 GPA at end of Fall 2014) and #2 above (enroll in additional English class and achieve a score higher than 60%), or the student will be dismissed. You will receive an from the Office of the Registrar Dear Student: Your CPS scores have been received. You can view them, along with the Progression Criteria scores required for each school by clicking in the link below. You will also need to “Choose Your School”. Make sure that you consider the following when making this decision -- Your CPS Scores -- The minimum scores required by the School -- Your academic interest Click on the following link to go to the “Choose Your School” site. Look closely at your scores and the required scores for each School. Hopefully you will have the required scores to receive full admission –If not look at the conditional admission requirements to see if you fit You must make three choices – you can choose the same School twice with different majors for example: –1 st choice – SST with a Robotics and Mechatronics major –2 nd choice – SST with a Computer Science major –Make sure you check the required scores How to “Choose Your School”

DATETASK Mon July 22CPS Scores received from UCL London in Office of the Registrar Tues-Thurs July 23-25Release of information to students for “Choose Your School” You must have internet access during this period so make sure you are where you can get in a computer with internet Thurs 25 July – 5:00 pm The system will close to students – IF needed the Office of the Registrar will contact any student who has not completed the module Fri-Thurs 26 July – 1 August School Admissions Committees will meet for decisions LAST YEAR’s Schedule

DATETASK Mon-Sat July 29 – 3 August Students will be notified of their admission status If you are denied you are free to request a reconsideration by any School, but you need to be able to provide additional information. You need to decide what this information is. Come by the Office of the Registrar and request the instructions on how to be reconsidered All students need to have a Skype address so if the Admissions Committee needs to talk with you during this time period they can reach you. Make sure you are reachable by mobile phone and/or Skype Schedule
